Position Summary
The Buyer will be responsible for all aspects of
procuring production & prototype materials, capital
equipment, general supplies, services, and manage
all associated purchasing systems. This position entails
implementation of corporate inititiatives in the areas
of purchasing, strategic outsourcing, analysis and
creation of purchasing metrics..
Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Responsible for order placement and procurement
of production & prototype materials, capital
equipment, general supplies, and services.
- Manage performance of suppliers, driving continuous
improvement in areas of cost and service for all
purchased items.
- Develop, analyze and maintain metrics to measure
procurement effectiveness.
- Works closely with all internal and external
resources to optimize component supply availability
and inventory.
- MRP/ERP system operation and maintenance.
- Coordinate supplier proposals and quotes.
- Independently perform procurement transactions
for materials and services.
- Develop new supply sources where vendors, supplies
and delivery lead times are inadequate.
- Maintain supplier contracts, purchase orders
and corporate documentation as required.
- Support material sourcing and procurement projects.
- Works with the Finance group to resolve any invoice
discrepancies
- Perform related duties as assigned by manager.
The Person
- BA/BS in relevant discipline from an accredited
university.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience as a Buyer in
a regulated environment.
- Detailed knowledge of procurement process is required.
- Some experience in Production Control or Medical
Device manufacturing and experience with MRP/ERP
systems preferred.
- This individual is expected to possess strong
negotiation skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
Able to communicate effectively with all levels
of the organization.
- Works with a high degree of independence in an
entrepreneurial environment and adhere to established
procedures in a regulated environment.
